Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Controls Project Manager for the HVAC division to serve as on‑site leader for assigned projects, overseeing construction management from pre‑construction through commissioning and closeout.

You will coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, field resources, and customers to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget, while maintaining strong customer relationships and adherence to contract requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, HVAC Technology, Building Automation Systems, or related field.
• Minimum of four years of experience managing, coordinating, or executing HVAC, Building Automation, controls, or commercial construction projects.
• Hands-on experience in design, installation, startup, commissioning, and turnover of digital HVAC or Building Automation control systems.
• Strong HVAC controls knowledge with understanding of control theory, BAS, and equipment operation.
• Experience in project planning, scheduling, resource coordination, subcontractor management, and field execution oversight.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, control schematics, and operations sequences.
• Knowledge of project accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and earned value.

Responsibilities

• Lead assigned HVAC controls projects through hardware design, programming, installation coordination, commissioning, and closeout.
• Coordinate day-to-day execution with subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and admin support.
• Manage project financial performance, including costs, billings, collections, cash flow, and gross margin.
• Maintain regular communication with customers and support long-term relationships.
• Review scope, directives, changes, and pursue change orders when additional work is identified.
• Coordinate procurement activities, including material selection, ordering, pricing, availability, and delivery.
• Oversee loading, device verification, system checkout, and commissioning of controllers and equipment.
• Validate system functionality and ensure installation meets project requirements.
• Prepare as-built records, commissioning docs, manuals, and warranty documentation.
• Provide site training for owners and operators on system operation.
• Attend progress meetings, report status, and forecast revenue, costs, and margin.
• Ensure safety standards and legal requirements are followed.
