Job summary

Montgomery College in Rockville is seeking a Building Equipment Mechanic II to maintain and repair complex HVAC and boiler room systems. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience working with commercial heating ventilation and air-conditioning systems, air handling units, VAV boxes, and rooftop packaged units.
• The equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
• Maryland Stationary Engineer 3rd Grade License, Section 608 Universal Certification, Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper boiler room equipment operation including pumps, boilers, water treatment, air lines, VFDs, expansion tank water levels, temperatures, pressures, exhaust fans, water and oil meters, chillers and related equipment.
• Receive and respond to work orders for various buildings.
• Troubleshoot/resolve problems identified in work orders including heating cooling, potable water, and strange odors.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on all boiler room equipment.
• Inspect assigned buildings to ensure that heating, plumbing, and electrical systems are operating properly.
