Job summary

Montgomery College is seeking a Building Equipment Mechanic II in Rockville to maintain and operate boiler room equipment, HVAC systems, and related facilities.

The role requires five years of experience with commercial HVAC, relevant licenses, and the ability to respond to work orders and perform preventive maintenance. The position is non-Exempt and pays hourly with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience with commercial HVAC systems (HVAC, air handling units, rooftop packaged units).
• Maryland Stationary Engineer 3rd Grade License, Section 608 Universal Certification, and Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor boiler room equipment including pumps, boilers, chillers, and associated systems.
• Receive and respond to work orders; troubleshoot heating, cooling, potable water, and odor issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance on boiler room equipment and HVAC systems.
• Order parts and supplies for repairs; inspect buildings for proper operation of HVA C, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Document progress of work orders and maintain records in the system.
• Assist with repairs, seasonal maintenance, and temporary fixes as needed.
