Job summary

Johnson Controls in Colorado Springs is seeking an experienced engineer for building control systems design and commissioning. You will design, configure, and test HVAC, lighting, security and low-voltage subsystems, coordinating with field teams to ensure quality and timely delivery.

Responsibilities include developing software, creating drawings and BOMs, and supporting site training for owners. Travel to job sites is required, with a strong focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Required Associate or Technical degree or equivalent work experience in HVAC controls.
• Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC industry and building automation systems.
• Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls and sub-systems from design to commissioning.
• Experience in integrating low voltage building subsystems using industry protocols.
• Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Strong computer skills, especially drafting tools.
• Travel to job sites outside the area as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
• Salary range: 87–115k USD; base package and benefits discussed during hiring.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and operate complete building control systems including fire and security sub-systems.
• Ensure quality, timeliness, and efficiency of designs with field teams.
• Develop software programs, commissioning, and troubleshooting for building controls.
• Provide submittals and drawings to communicate design and operation to customers and teams.
• Create flow diagrams, sequences, BOMs, and network layouts.
• Coordinate drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
• Order and track materials; coordinate factory mounting and commissioning of systems.
• Assist in site training for owner/operators and support project progress updates.
