Job summary

WSP is seeking a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Experienced P&C Field Services Technician for Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. You will perform testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems in high voltage environments, using Omicron and Doble test sets.

You will document field activities, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure quality, safety, and compliance on active substations and power systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years in electrical testing, including MV/HV breakers and substations.
• Experience with protective relays and protection schemes.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
• Willingness to travel up to 80%.
• Commitment to field safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning for Protection and Control systems on high voltage substations.
• On-site relay testing using Omicron and Doble test sets.
• Document site activities with field forms and digital tools.
• Clean equipment, manage inventory, and calibrate as directed.
• Support Project Lead or Field Supervisor and escalate complex issues.
• Participate in daily safety briefings and ensure health and safety protocols.
• Review work of junior technicians and provide guidance as needed.
• Maintain logs, photos, and labels with careful attention to detail.
