Job summary

Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services, seeks a Substation Engineer to join its New Orleans, LA office. You will design substations from 34.5kV to 500kV, develop design documents, and coordinate with project teams to meet schedules.

Responsibilities include relay coordination, load flow studies, and applying NEC/NESC/IEEE/ANSI standards. Some travel and onsite site work are required, with potential advancement based on experience and licensure progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience in substation design; at least 3 years in substation engineering design; senior levels 7+ years.
• Licensed professional engineer with the ability to become licensed in multiple states or licensure within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Create all design documents and drawings for a project, including wiring diagrams and bills of materials.
• Perform engineering support tasks such as relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
• Apply engineering software to ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and load flow studies.
• Review project schedules with a project engineer to keep projects on track.
• Apply NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards and use the document management system.
• Supervise project activities and communicate with project engineers, customers, and others.
• Travel out of town for short periods as required; spend time at job sites for hands-on knowledge.
