Dashiell, part of Quanta Services, seeks a Substation Engineer to design substations from 34.5kV to 500kV. The role is based in Dallas, TX, reporting to the Supervising Engineer, with opportunity for Design Engineer I–III placement depending on experience.

Occasional travel and site work are required to gain hands-on knowledge. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, 3+ years of substation design (7+ for senior roles), PE licensure or ability to obtain it within a year,

Competenze

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• At least 3 years of hands-on substation engineering design experience; senior level 7+ years.
• Licensed professional engineer with ability to licensure in multiple states or able to gain licensure within one year of hire.
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Experience with relays and metering at 138kV and above.
• Strong knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals and three-phase power systems.

Mansioni

• Create all design documents and drawings for a project, including wiring diagrams and materials lists.
• Perform relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations with minimal supervision.
• Apply software to complete tasks such as ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and load flow studies.
• Review project schedules and work with a project engineer to ensure projects stay on schedule.
• Communicate and coordinate project activities with project engineer, customer representatives, and others as needed.
• Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge and training in substation construction and design.
• Take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of work and raise potential issues with the responsible party.
