Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking an Electrical Engineer to execute and lead HV substation design tasks under supervision. You will develop general arrangements, layouts, and BOMs, perform design calculations, and coordinate with protection, control, and civil disciplines.

The role involves reviewing vendor quotations, preparing specifications, and supporting proposals. Travel may be required, with a focus on delivering quality within schedule and budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with GPA > 3.0 (US system).
• Work experience in power systems engineering and design.
• Ability and willingness to travel, including internationally, in compliance with company travel and tax policies.

Responsibilities

• Execute technical tasks for AC substation projects under the guidance of a Lead Engineer.
• Develop high voltage substation drawings, plan and elevation views, BOMs and equipment layouts.
• Perform engineering calculations related to substation design.
• Coordinate design with other disciplines (SLDs, relay protection, control requirements).
• Write specifications for HV equipment and prepare material purchase requests.
• Evaluate vendor quotations for substation equipment (breakers, switchgear, transformers, cables, protection systems).
• Resolve technical issues with customer and project manager; maintain budget and schedule with the team.
• Interface with cross-functional stakeholders (Principal Engineers, CAD operators, Project Managers).
• Support proposal development (technical specs, material estimating, vendor evaluations).
• Contribute to engineering automation and quality initiatives.
