Job summary

Dashiell Corporation seeks a Substation Engineer for its Houston, TX office. You will design substations from 34.5kV to 500kV, prepare wiring diagrams, and conduct load flow and short-circuit studies while applying NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.

Occasional travel and site work are expected. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years in substation design, with senior roles needing 7+ years; PE licensure within one year is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; substation design experience.
• 3+ years in substation engineering design; senior roles require 7+ years.
• Licensed professional engineer or ability to licensure within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Create design documents and drawings, wiring diagrams, and BOMs for projects.
• Perform relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
• Apply software for ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and studies.
• Review project schedules with a project engineer to maintain timelines.
• Adhere to NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Communicate with engineers, vendors, and clients; travel as required.
• Work at job sites for hands-on substation construction and design training.
• Ensure quality and accuracy of work; raise project issues when needed.
