Job summary

Hanson Professional Services, Inc. in Raleigh, NC is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in medium/high voltage to design power distribution for renewable energy projects and complex substations up to 200 kV.

A PE license or the ability to obtain licensure within six months is required. The role involves collaboration with civil and structural teams, preparing drawings, and supporting field execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • PE licensure or ability to obtain within six months.
  • 5+ years of consulting experience in medium/high-voltage power systems.
  • Experience preparing electrical construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and construction administration.
  • Graduate degree or professional registrations preferred.
  • General Contractor License a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design medium- and high-voltage power distribution and management systems for renewable energy projects.
  • Traditional transmission and distribution design, underground and overhead.
  • Prepare construction packages for 15kV to 200kV systems, including substation layouts and studies.
  • QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Provide technical support to field personnel for HV systems.
  • Perform electrical studies: short-circuit, arc flash, load flow, relay coordination.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and coordinate across offices.
  • Involve in due diligence, feasibility studies and interconnection studies; prepare master plans.
  • Participate in project management, client meetings, shop drawing reviews, and construction administration.
  • Mentor Power Market team members and travel occasionally for field reviews.
