Job summary

Hanson Professional Services, Inc. seeks an Electrical Engineer in St. Louis with a focus on medium- and high-voltage design for renewable energy projects. PE licensure is required or achievable within six months. You will design 15kV–200kV systems, prepare drawings and specs, and support field teams across multiple offices.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and travel for field reviews as needed to ensure project success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
  • PE licensure or eligibility within six months.
  • Minimum 5 years of consulting experience in MV/HV power design.
  • Experience preparing electrical construction drawings, specs, and submittals.

Responsibilities

  • Design medium- and high-voltage systems for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS, EV charging, microgrids).
  • Design transmission/distribution, underground and overhead.
  • Prepare specs, calculations, drawings, and construction packages for 15kV–200kV.
  • Perform QA/QC to ensure standards compliance.
  • Support field personnel for MV/HV systems up to 200kV.
  • Run electrical studies: short-circuit, arc flash, load flow, relay coordination.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues at renewable facilities.
  • Collaborate with civil/structural teams and coordinate across offices.
  • Conduct feasibility, conceptual studies and IBR interconnection studies.
  • Participate in project management, client meetings, design coordination, shop drawings, and construction administration.
  • Mentor engineers within the Power Market team.
  • Travel occasionally for meetings and field reviews.
