Job summary

Spartanburg Community College is seeking an HR coordinator to manage the temporary employment process, ensure accurate HRIS data entry, and support onboarding for temporary staff. The role includes maintaining employee files and assisting with HR projects and reporting.

The position may require occasional evening/weekend hours and travel to campuses. A high school diploma is required, with a bachelor’s degree or 3+ years HR experience preferred, and SHRM/HRCI certification encouraged.

  • Coordinate the College’s employment process for temporary employees, including classification and transactions in Colleague.
  • Manage HR data entry for employee transactions and ensure accuracy of information in HRIS.
  • Assist with new employee orientation for temporary staff and provide ongoing HR support.
  • Serve as backup for HR staff and respond to information requests and routine inquiries.
  • Leverage DocuSign and Dynamic Forms to process HR actions efficiently.

Job description

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the coordination of the College's employment process for temporary employees, including classification, entering personnel transactions in Colleague, offboarding, and managing employee files. Manages or assists with special HR projects and reporting as needed.

Manages Temporary Employment process to include: conveys the policies and procedures of temporary employment and compensation to supervisors and employees; ensures appropriate forms and documents are up-to-date; coordinates break-in-service for affected temporary employees; ensures compliance of federal and state employment rules and regulations for temporary employment; processes all temporary employment acknowledgements in compliance with the College’s compensation plans; monitors and processes Secondary State Employment forms in compliance with State policies and procedures; ensures accurate payment information is provided; processes temporary employee terminations; assists employees with the time entry process and web-based platform; and, assists with updating processes pertaining to temporary employment and the temporary compensation plans. Maintains the Temporary, Part-time Compensation Plan.

Responsible for processing and HRIS data entry for employee transactions into Colleague, such as position information, new hire data, personnel transactions, wage-related transactions, and temporary acknowledgments. Works to ensure consistent and accurate information is maintained. Assists in maintaining or researching position information, creating and analyzing reports, and corresponding as needed.

Assists with new employee orientation for TMP employees, including SCC Policies, I-9, payroll forms, and benefits enrollment (EES, etc.). Ensures that the employee receives accurate and up-to-date information applicable to their SCC employment.

When applicable, serves as backup in the absence of other HR staff. Assists with information requests, employee/department responses, provides customer service, and other HR activities.

Responsible for leveraging technology to ensure efficient and accurate processing of HR actions including DocuSign, Dynamic Forms, and other systems.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and clerical or administrative experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area or a minimum of 3 years of HR experience. SHRM / HRCI Certification.

Additional Comments
Evening/weekend hours and travel to other campuses may occasionally be required for scheduled events.
