Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist will provide a wide range of HR support based on business knowledge and human resources expertise. Responsibilities will include overseeing benefits, leave, payroll, and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, Hospital, and Joint Commission requirements; participating in identifying and implementing process improvements for HR activity/functions; auditing HR and training files for compliance; participating in the placement of agency/contract staff; and other HR-related duties and projects as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists in the management of the day-to-day activities to support HR and other inter-related functions.
  • Collaborates in identifying best practices to share with Directors to assure compliance measures are being met.
  • Assists with labor relations issues including disciplinary, counseling, and grievance matters.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements to streamline HR functions/activities for efficiency.
  • Organizes employee engagement events (Employee of the Month/Quarter, Years of Service, etc).
  • Audits HR files for compliance with State, Federal, Hospital, and Joint Commission standards and requirements.
  • Assists with Worker’s Compensation reporting including OSHA 300 form.
  • Manages benefit administration for all insurance plans including reconciliation of statements for payment.
  • Acts as a resource for caregivers, identifying and working to resolve issues related to hiring, retention, professional development, and performance improvement.
  • Provides information to employees and leaders regarding HR processes, systems, policies, and related topics.
  • Facilitates HR training programs for all levels of employees, including training on HRIS.
  • Updates and performs maintenance on HRIS and other systems as required.
  • Serves as the Administrator of benefits, authorizing changes to benefits through the Employee HRIS enrollment system.
  • Responds to requests regarding employment and benefit issues as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the implementation and compliance of employee benefits including health, dental, vision, life, supplemental, and LTD programs.
  • Processes payroll including timekeeping, relocation/recruitment compensation, critical shifts, and scheduling.
  • Processes FMLA and leave paperwork and ensures compliance with Federal and State guidelines as directed by the Human Resources Director.
  • Performs other relevant job responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Training Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED Required; Associate's Degree in a Business Related field preferred.
  • aPHR or PHR certification preferred.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Excellent auditing skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills at all levels within the organization.
  • Two (2) years of hospital Human Resources experience highly desired; Administrative experience in a hospital setting may be considered as a substitute for the Human Resources experience.
