Job summary

Indiana University in Bloomington is seeking an HR Generalist to serve as the first intake point for Research HR requests. You will triage, respond to inquiries, and route cases to the appropriate HR team.

The role supports the employee lifecycle, HRMS/eDocs processing, and confidential record keeping. Required is a high school diploma or GED with 3 years of HR-related experience and strong MS Office skills; Salesforce CRM experience is preferred.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Serves as the primary intake point for IU Research HR requests through the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Triages, responds to, and reassigns HR cases to the appropriate HR team member.
  • Monitors case workflows and ensure timely routing and resolution.
  • Provides 1st level HR guidance and escalates complex issues as needed.
  • Processes Human Resources Management System (HRMS)/eDocs supporting the employee lifecycle.
  • Supports HR team members with transactional HR activities and administrative processing.
  • Assists with position creation, position maintenance, job data updates, transfers, reorganizations, hires, and related personnel transactions.
  • Ensures accuracy, completeness, and compliance of submitted HR transactions and documentation.
  • Maintains HR records, documentation, templates, and procedural resources.
  • Coordinates HR communications, resource distribution, and employee-facing information.
  • Supports employee recognition, engagement, and other departmental HR initiatives.
  • Builds collaborative relationships and provides responsive customer service to IU Research employees, HR colleagues, and University HR Centers of Excellence.
  • Maintains working knowledge of IU policies, procedures, and employment regulations and apply guidance consistent with established practices.
  • Coordinates administrative aspects of HR recruitment and hiring activities.
  • Assists with posting requests, position management, workflow tracking, and onboarding processes.
  • Maintains recruitment-related records, communications, and supporting documentation.
General Responsibilities
  • Coordinates, processes, verifies, and maintains academic and/or staff HR related work, which may include but not limited to: recruitment, training, benefits, employee relations, tenure, performance evaluations, classifications, I-9s and employee leaves of absences.
  • Researches and analyzes academic and/or staff HR related topics to help assist in resolving issues and/or creating solutions.
  • Creates, compiles, prepares, and analyzes reports and documents for academic and/or staff HR related activities.
  • Performs and may coordinate data entry for processing transactions and maintaining and keeping information current for candidates, employees and/or retirees on a variety of academic and/or staff HR issues.
  • Provides administrative and related support to other academic and/or staff HR staff.
  • Supports and maintains academic and/or staff HR programs and events; maintains up-to-date records of actions, decisions, and time frames.
  • Maintains high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and documents.

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 3 years of HR related experience plus advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite products.

Preferred

  • Experience with Salesforce CRM.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. Bloomington, Indiana

This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), after an initial evaluation period, and is subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

$22.35 - $24.75, based upon experience.
