Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a design engineer to develop, release, and support propulsion systems for the MK2 Crew Lander. You will own CAD models, coordinate analysis, and drive manufacturability with operations, while mentoring junior engineers.

Your work spans design through verification, with emphasis on safety, cost principles, and collaboration across teams to lower spaceflight costs and enable lunar missions.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience designing tubes, fluid components, secondary structure, etc.
• 5+ years of experience generating 3D models and drawings in Creo for complex fluid hardware
• Experience releasing model based designs
• Demonstrated ability to mentor entry level engineers
• Experience performing structural hand calculations and analysis with ANSYS.
• Experience interpreting P&IDs
• ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance expertise.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

• Generating CAD models for propulsion fluid system hardware
• Generating model based designs for engineering release
• Leading design for manufacturability efforts for fluid component assemblies
• Integrating with operations for the fabrication and installation of hardware
• Performing basic structural analysis on fluid system hardware
• Authoring engineering artifacts to support verification
