Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking an HR Specialist to support employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and benefits administration. The role focuses on leave management, compliance, and process improvement to enhance the employee experience.

A bachelor’s degree in HR or related field is required, with 2+ years in benefits/recruitment preferred and SHRM-CP/PHR as a plus. Responsibilities include handling inquiries, managing open enrollment, supporting compliance, and maintaining accurate HR records in

Qualifications

• Experience across HR functions including benefits and leave management.
• 2+ years of experience in benefits administration, recruitment and/or HR.
• HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite and knowledge of industry product reporting systems.
• Must be proactive and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to employment laws and regulations.
• Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries on policies and procedures.
• Informs management of sensitive issues requiring attention and resolution.
• Assist with terminations, exit interviews, and separation agreements.
• Administer employee benefits programs and educate employees on options.
• Lead annual open enrollment and oversee implementation.
• Develop communications with MarCom regarding updates and resources.
• Streamline benefits processes with HR and other teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve benefits programs and satisfaction.
• Participate in compliance reporting (ACA, HIPAA, ERISA, COBRA).
• Manage leave programs (FMLA and others) with compliance.
• Provide information for payroll and HRIS updates.
