Job summary

The Piedmont Environmental Council (PEC) is seeking a full-time HR & Payroll Specialist to manage biweekly payroll, administer benefits, and provide in-person HR support at our Warrenton, VA headquarters.

The role requires meticulous data integrity, confidentiality, and a strong customer-service mindset as you collaborate with the Director of HR, handle onboarding and employee relations, and ensure regulatory compliance in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 years of biweekly payroll processing with multi-state exposure.
• Experience with Dominion Payroll / iSolved.
• Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, wage and hour laws, and benefits administration.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Google Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-office HR support and staff inquiries.
• Manage onboarding/offboarding workflows and records.
• Address employee relations with discretion and empathy.
• Execute biweekly payroll accurately using Dominion/iSolved.
• Manage deductions, garnishments, and payroll adjustments.
• Oversee benefits administration and open enrollment.
• Assist with compliance, audits, and recordkeeping.
• Support recruitment and candidate processes as needed.
• Improve HRIS and payroll processes for efficiency.
