Steuben Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Bath, NY, part of Centers Health Care, is hiring a Director of Human Resources/Payroll to lead HR and payroll operations in a long-term care setting.

The role oversees payroll processing, benefits coordination, recruitment, employee relations, and training in collaboration with facility leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and a respectful, productive workplace.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in an HR or staffing setting required.
• Strong HR knowledge and administrative skills required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and complete nursing schedules.
• Coordinate payroll timecards and act as payroll liaison.
• Coordinate employee benefits with Payroll and Benefits Administrator.
• Supervise front desk staff.
• Ensure DOL and DOH compliance for new hires (time-clock enrollment, background checks, references, licenses).
• Manage recruitment: determine openings, screen and interview applicants.
• Participate in facility management meetings.
• Contribute to team goals and outcomes.
• Handle HR duties: discipline, payroll status changes, terminations, resignations, retirements.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

Steuben Center is hiring a Director of Human Resources/Payroll in Bath, NY.

• Prepare accurate and complete schedules for nursing department
• Coordinate all payroll timecards and issues by acting as the payroll liaison between the Payroll Department and the facility
• Coordinate all employee benefits by acting as the liaison between Payroll Dept & Benefits Administrator
• Supervise the front desk staff in all aspects
• Ensure the Department of Labor and Department of Health compliance for all new hires including time-clock enrollment, criminal background checks/reference checks/license verification
• Managing recruitment needs by determining open positions, screening and interviewing applicants
• Participates in facility management meetings as required
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Handles HR Duties, including employee disciplines (in collaboration with department heads), change in payroll status, terminations, resignations, retirements
• Other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisor

• Must have prior experience in an HR or staffing setting
• Background or degree in HR strongly preferred
• Knowledge of human resource administration
• Inter-personal, organizational and problem-solving skills are required
• Must have excellent communication skills
