Job summary

Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a Manager, Human Resources for the Medicine Pod at Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. The role leads HR, faculty affairs and payroll, supervising staff and enhancing processes in a fast‑growing environment.

The successful candidate will drive recruiting, onboarding, visa processing, appointments and payroll, while ensuring compliance and effective employee relations across the department.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
• Demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal, superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly proficient Microsoft Office skills; comfortable with databases and computerized financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment: post positions in CU systems and publications; manage hiring transactions; participate in recruitment processes.
• Onboarding: communicate with candidate, hiring manager and leadership; process necessary hiring documents in HRIS.
• Faculty affairs: track appointments, promotions, reappointments, credentialing; liaise on visa processing.
• Payroll/compensation: resolve payroll issues; maintain timesheets and accrual balances.
• Employee & labor relations: support HR Directors on employee relations and grievance resolution.
• Compliance: track I-9 processing, training, HIPAA, visa status.
• Systems and project work: use HR ticketing system; update employee records; participate in improvement initiatives.
