Job summary

Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking an HR/FA Generalist to coordinate day-to-day HR, faculty affairs and payroll for the Medicine Pod. Responsibilities include onboarding, recruitment support, and ensuring compliance with immigration requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and at least 3 years of relevant experience, with strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to work with PeopleSoft, TLAM and Visual Vault.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Must be resourceful, organized and detail and task oriented with the ability to establish priorities and follow up on multiple issues.
• Ability to exercise professionalism, diplomacy, discretion and collaboration at all levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and databases.
• Must quickly acquire knowledge of University policies and systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day HR, faculty affairs and payroll for the Medicine Pod; may work on special projects.
• Provide back-up support to other HR/FA team members; meet weekly with Directors.
• Assist recruitment by posting positions on Columbia job sites and external sources; manage I-9 and pre-hire checks.
• Onboard staff, faculty, researchers and students; coordinate UNI creation and onboarding activities.
• Oversee payroll processing and time-off tracking; manage changes in PeopleSoft and TLAM.
• Handle immigration sponsorships and visa documentation; liaise with ISSO and Compass for renewals.
• Use HR ticketing system; maintain employee records in Visual Vault; manage documentation and communications.
