Job summary

The Manager, Human Resources at Columbia University will oversee day-to-day HR, faculty affairs and payroll for the Medicine Pod at Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. The role acts as a team lead, managing staff and driving customer service, problem-resolution, creativity and innovation in a fast-growing environment.

The ideal candidate will build, enhance and develop processes across recruitment, onboarding, faculty affairs, and payroll functions, partnering with department leadership

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
• Demonstrates excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; comfortable with databases and computerized financial systems.
• Ability to manage priorities across multiple tasks in a high-pressured environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day HR, faculty affairs and payroll functions for the Medicine Pod; lead staff.
• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and documentation across HRIS systems.
• Manage faculty appointments, promotions, credentialing and related processes.
• Collaborate with payroll to resolve issues and maintain timesheets and accruals.
• Support employee and labor relations, compliance training and system improvements.
• Maintain records, track HR requests and participate in process improvement initiatives.
• Supervise and mentor HR/FA Generalists; conduct weekly check-ins with department admins.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
