Job summary

Optalis Healthcare in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support recruitment, onboarding, and retention across the care center. Under supervision of the Administrator and Corporate HR Director, you will manage employee files and track milestones to stay compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.

You will serve as the go-to HR contact for staff, administer hiring processes, oversee pre-hire checks, conduct interviews, and coordinate orientation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or higher preferred.
• At least three years relevant HR experience.

Responsibilities

• Track employee status changes (terminations, promotions).
• Provide local HR support to employees and managers on policies and unemployment issues.
• Administer recruiting: screening, reference checks, background checks, and drug screening.
• Coordinate pre-hire requirements (drug screens, background checks, fingerprinting).
• Prepare orientation materials for new hires and conduct onboarding.
• Source candidates for high turnover positions and reduce turnover trends.
• Advise leadership on staffing, wage issues, and disciplinary actions.
• Cross-train to support payroll operations as needed.
