Job summary

Optalis Healthcare in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention activities for the Care Center. Under supervision of the Administrator and Corporate HR Director, you will maintain employee files and track milestones for regulatory compliance.

You will serve as the primary contact for employees on HR inquiries, administer pre-hire requirements, conduct interviews, and support payroll/benefits administration.

Qualifications

• Three years of HR experience required.
• Knowledge of HR policies and compliance preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Track employee status changes (terminations, promotions, etc).
• Provide local HR support to employees and managers regarding company policies, unemployment, FMLA, and workers’ compensation.
• Execute HR projects aligned with the HR strategy.
• Liaise with corporate HR and safety programs; partner with leadership to communicate across client areas.
• Maintain an effective selection system: review applications, screenings, reference and background checks, drug screens; coach managers on interviewing.
• Administer pre-hire requirements (drug screens, background checks, etc).
• Prepare orientation materials and explain policies and benefits to new hires.
• Conduct ongoing sourcing for high turnover roles; reduce turnover through analysis.
• Collaborate with Corporate HR Manager on staffing, wage/salary, disciplinary actions.
