Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA seeks a Human Resources Generalist to support staff development, policy compliance, and HR operations in Carpinteria, CA. You will maintain employee records, assist with benefits, leaves, and payroll tasks as needed, and partner with branch leadership on staff performance matters.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree, 2+ years of relevant experience, knowledge of CA HR laws, and PHR/SPHR preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of State and Federal HR laws applicable to California.
• Familiarity with HR compliance, employee relations, and benefits.
• Ability to maintain updated employee records and HR policies.

Responsibilities

• Fosters staff development and ensures HR policy compliance.
• Maintains employee handbook and HR records for benefits and leaves.
• Handles employee relations, counseling, and performance matters.
• Ensures proper onboarding, terminations, and off-boarding procedures.
• Supports payroll backup and training design for HR processes.
