Montana Silversmiths, Inc. in Columbus, Montana, seeks an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support the Director of HR and provide day-to-day HR support across the organization in a manufacturing environment.

The role covers recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, HR records, compliance, training, payroll processes, and other HR initiatives while ensuring consistent policy application and effective employee communication.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of increasingly responsible HR experience.
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, retail, or another operational environment preferred.
• Knowledge of employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, HR records, and employment-law compliance.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and best HR practices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for routine employee questions on policies, benefits, payroll, leave, and attendance.
• Support full-cycle recruiting, postings, screenings, interviews, references, and offers.
• Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, paperwork, system access, policy acknowledgments, and training.
• Maintain confidential personnel records and HRIS data.
• Assist with benefits enrollment and open enrollment inquiries.
• Support timekeeping and payroll-related processes and coordinate with payroll.
• Assist managers with policy implementation, performance documentation, coaching, and corrective actions.
• Document employee concerns and escalate significant matters.
• Track leave and accommodations with the Director of HR.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws, postings, record retention, and reporting.
• Support workers’ compensation, safety, return-to-work documentation.
• Coordinate and track training, policy updates, performance reviews, and engagement activities.
• Prepare routine HR reports and monitor headcount, turnover, recruiting activity, attendance, and training.
