Job summary

Meritum Energy is seeking an experienced HR Generalist with a focus on Leave & Accommodations to support multi-state operations. You will manage FMLA and other leave programs, handle ADA accommodations, and coordinate with Payroll, Benefits, and Safety to ensure compliant, timely responses.

The role requires strong judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple cases concurrently while partnering with HR leadership to resolve complex issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, Management, or related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• 3+ years of progressively responsible HR experience.
• Hands-on experience administering employee leaves of absence and FMLA.
• Working knowledge of ADA reasonable accommodations and the interactive process.
• Experience administering employee benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k)) and answering employee benefits questions.
• Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
• Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage the employee leave process from initial notification through return to work, including FMLA and multiple types of leave.
• Determine eligibility for FMLA and other leave programs, issue notices and maintain documentation.
• Coordinate with Payroll and Benefits on leave, PTO, and benefit continuation.
• Serve as primary HR contact for ADA accommodations and interactive process with employees and management.
• Track leave usage, balances, and certifications; escalate high-risk cases when needed.
• Coordinate return-to-work processes and verify fitness-for-duty when necessary.
• Maintain accurate HRIS records and periodic reports on leave activity and case volume.
