Job summary

The State of Mississippi is seeking an Human Resources Generalist II in Jackson, MS to manage end-to-end HR processes, including new hire processing, salary determinations, and personnel transactions. You will ensure policy compliance and support managers with HR procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree typically required or preferred.
• 3–5 years of HR experience.
• Experience with MSPB HR information systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• New Hire Processing: coordinate and process new hires; verify information; prepare offer letters; communicate with hiring managers.
• Compensation Administration: review and process salary determinations and in-range adjustments per MSPB and agency plans.
• Personnel Actions: handle transfers, schedule changes, position changes, promotions, and other transactions with proper authorization.
• Position Management: verify vacant positions, update organizational charts, and ensure accurate reporting relationships.
• Succession Planning: serve as backup for three HR positions through cross-training and knowledge transfer.
• HR Systems and Compliance: maintain records, review transactions for discrepancies, and ensure MSPB compliance.
• Communication and Coordination: provide guidance on employment processing, compensation, and required documentation.
