Job summary

The University of Mississippi in University, MS is seeking an HR Generalist to provide guidance to employees and managers, supporting employee relations, talent processes, and day-to-day HR operations onsite.

You will partner with HR colleagues to improve the employee experience through data, training, and process refinement, while ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and university policies.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related HR experience and a Bachelor's degree.
• Experience using Workday in a professional setting.
• Experience working in Higher Education.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and managers, addressing HR-related questions, policies, and processes.
• Support employee relations by gathering information, providing guidance, and escalating matters as appropriate.
• Assist with recruitment and onboarding, including job postings, candidate coordination, and new hire processes.
• Administer and support HR programs, including performance management, compensation actions, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Ensure HR transactions are processed accurately and on time within HRIS systems.
• Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures to promote consistency and compliance.
• Collaborate with HR Business Partners and centers of expertise to support broader HR initiatives and projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and enhance the employee experience.
• Provide training and education on Workday, recruiting practices, and fair and compliant hiring processes.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws, institutional policies, and HR best practices.
• Participate in HR projects supporting organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, and institutional priorities.
• Build effective working relationships with leaders, employees, and HR colleagues to improve communication and resolve workplace concerns.
• Prepare and analyze HR reports and data to identify trends and support departmental and HR decision-making.
