Job summary

Six Degrees Search is partnering with a growing financial services firm in Wheaton, Illinois, to recruit an HR Generalist focused on benefits and recruiting. This hands-on role supports day-to-day HR operations and reports to no direct supervisor as a traditional people-manager.

You will manage full-cycle recruiting, coordinate onboarding, administer employee benefits, and help implement scalable HR processes to support growth.

Qualifications

• 3–10 years of progressive HR experience, with flexibility for the right combination of skills.
• Hands-on experience with recruiting, onboarding, and employee benefits administration.
• Experience in financial services, banking, insurance, mortgage, investment management, or related industry is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with HR systems, payroll processes, and employment compliance.
• Experience working with benefits brokers and insurance carriers is a plus.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and take initiative.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle recruiting, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer coordination.
• Partner with leadership to identify hiring needs and support workforce planning.
• Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, and employee documentation.
• Help develop recruiting and onboarding processes as the organization grows.
• Coordinate employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other employee benefits.
• Manage annual open enrollment and assist employees with benefits questions and elections.
• Work with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and outside vendors.
• Maintain employee records and assist with employee relations matters.
• Support HR compliance, policies, and employee communications.
• Maintain HR systems, personnel records, and employee documentation.
• Support payroll administration and coordinate employee changes.
• Develop and improve HR policies, procedures, workflows, and internal processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and employee experience.
• Help establish scalable HR practices to support future growth.
• Support leadership with general business administration and special projects.
• Coordinate office operations and vendor relationships.
• Assist with internal communications and operational initiatives.
• Take ownership of administrative responsibilities that help the organization operate efficiently.
