Job summary

Jerry.ai is seeking a hands-on HR professional to own multi-state compliance, policy drafting, and payroll/benefits questions in a fast-growing startup. You’ll lead the annual audit, refresh the employee handbook, and mentor the Payroll/HR Admin team.

The role blends policy, payroll responsibility, and AI-driven process improvements. We value in-house experience, courage to own complex challenges, and a passion for building with AI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
• At least 2 years of hands-on HR generalist experience including policy drafting, payroll, and compliance.
• Genuine in-house, multi-state compliance experience.
• Comfortable in a small, high-intensity team handling payroll, benefits, and compliance.
• Excited to build with AI and integrate AI into HR ops.

Responsibilities

• Own multi-state compliance and policy updates across employee classifications and pay ranges.
• Lead the annual compliance audit and handbook refresh within the first 90 days.
• Handle escalated payroll, benefits, and leave questions requiring senior input.
• Review and unblock work of Payroll and HR Administration team members.
• Rearchitect HR operations processes with an AI-native mindset and structure.
• Grow into day-to-day HR operations management over time.
