The role combines recruiting for PM, maintenance, admin, and corporate positions with onboarding, employee relations, and policy guidance, supporting multiple properties locally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business administration, or related field.
  • 3+ years in HR, recruiting, or both.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for property managers, leasing professionals, maintenance technicians, administrative staff, and corporate positions.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruiting strategies.
  • Create and post job advertisements across appropriate recruiting platforms.
  • Source, screen, and interview candidates while providing a professional and responsive candidate experience.
  • Coordinate interviews, gather hiring feedback, conduct reference checks, and assist with offer preparation.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for frequently hired positions.
  • Track recruiting activity and provide updates regarding open positions, candidate pipelines, and hiring challenges.
  • Develop relationships with community organizations, schools, trade programs, and other recruiting partners.
  • Support seasonal, temporary, and urgent staffing needs across the property portfolio.
  • Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, employment paperwork, and employment eligibility verification.
  • Serve as an accessible resource for employees regarding workplace policies, benefits, payroll questions, and HR matters.
  • Support employee relations by listening to concerns, documenting issues, and helping managers address workplace challenges.
  • Assist managers with coaching, performance documentation, corrective action, and employee development.
  • Administer employee changes, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, and separations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files and HRIS records.
  • Support benefit enrollment, open enrollment, and employee benefit questions.
  • Assist with payroll-related updates and ensure employee information is submitted accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate required training and track completion of company and safety-related programs.
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, retention, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Assist with workers’ compensation claims, unemployment requests, and other employment-related documentation.
  • Help maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of HR processes, policies, and procedures.

Position Overview

A growing property management organization in Madison is seeking an experienced and people-focused HR Generalist / Recruiter to support its employees and ongoing hiring needs.

This position combines hands-on human resources responsibilities with full-cycle recruiting for a variety of property management, maintenance, administrative, and corporate positions. The ideal candidate is organized, approachable, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and understands the importance of hiring dependable employees in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities
Recruiting and Staffing
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting for property managers, leasing professionals, maintenance technicians, administrative staff, and corporate positions.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience in human resources, recruiting, or a combination of both.
  • Experience recruiting for property management, maintenance, skilled trades, hospitality, construction, or another high-volume service environment is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and standard HR practices.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems, HRIS platforms, job boards, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong interviewing, relationship-building, and candidate assessment skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance recruiting priorities with day-to-day HR responsibilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees and managers across multiple locations and levels of the organization.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to occasionally travel to properties throughout the Madison area.
