Job summary

AP FREIGHT INC is seeking an experienced Freight Broker/Branch Manager to lead the development of our Houston operation. The role begins remotely, focusing on building a book of business, establishing client relationships, and driving revenue and gross profit.

Over time, the position transitions to on-site in Houston, with leadership responsibilities for a five-broker team and close collaboration with back-office functions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in freight brokerage, freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Bring and develop an established book of business and generate new opportunities.
• Negotiate rates and maintain healthy gross margins while managing accounts.
• Develop recurring freight opportunities across FTL, LTL, flatbed, drayage, and other transportation services.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and lead a growing Houston broker team.
• Establish Houston presence and local market opportunities.
• Coordinate shipments from booking to delivery with carriers.
• Collaborate with back-office on load tracking, billing, compliance, and admin support.
