Job summary

Trystum is seeking a Freight Broker / Branch Manager to launch and lead our Houston, TX office. The role starts remotely to build revenue and will transition to on-site leadership as the branch grows.

You will recruit, train, and manage a team of up to ten freight brokers, develop relationships with shippers, and drive pricing strategies to maximize margins. A strong base salary plus uncapped commission powers strong first-year earnings.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in freight brokerage, freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation sales.
• Portable book of business or proven shipper relationships preferred.
• Proven ability to prospect, negotiate, close deals, and build partnerships.
• Track record of generating gross margin and managing profitable accounts.
• Desire and ability to mentor and manage a broker team.
• Strong verbal and written English communication.
• Willingness to start remotely and transition to on-site in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development: expand accounts through cold calling, networking, referrals.
• Negotiate rates, quotes, and maintain healthy margins across services.
• Oversee load lifecycle from booking to delivery, with back-office support.
• Recruit, train, and manage a team of up to ten freight brokers as the branch grows.
