Job summary

BestCare in Oregon is seeking a Peer Support Specialist for housing to assist clients in securing and maintaining housing through the Rental Assistance/Supported Housing Program. The role requires a high school diploma, Oregon peer definition, familiarity with mental health and substance use populations, and recovery history.

Responsibilities include coordinating resources, completing paperwork, and supporting clients along treatment plans.

Qualifications

High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
Must meet Oregon Administrative Rules definition of a peer.
Familiarity with mental illness and substance abusing populations and disabilities.

Responsibilities

Works with clients in securing and maintaining housing.
Collaborates with Mental Health Team to provide care and supports.
Assists clients with accessing resources and entitlement programs.
Completes administrative paperwork related to housing and program enrollment.
Supports clients in achieving ISSP goals and objectives.
Ensures housing unit compliance with state codes/standards.
Provides transportation as needed under clinician direction.
Conducts or participates in home visits and welfare checks as appropriate.
Assists with skill-building: budgeting, bill payments, and housing applications.
Maintains clinical documentation per agency guidelines.
Participates in training to aid position.
Models positive behavior and mentors new staff.
