Job summary

ACCESS - Intake Specialist – Housing Retention in Medford, OR 97504 is responsible for helping participants apply for housing-related services and navigating eligibility with a multidisciplinary team in an office setting.

The role involves interviewing participants for eligibility, managing caseloads, coordinating referrals, and maintaining detailed case notes, while addressing emergencies with empathy and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Belief in ACCESS’ mission to help provide food, warmth, and shelter.
• At least 1 year of case management experience or similar experience involving working closely with participants and determining eligibility.
• Ability to interact effectively with a variety of individuals and groups from varying educational, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products and web-based applications.
• Ability to work flexible hours, and at times in poor weather.
• Willingness and ability to adjust to changing conditions or priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers and co-workers, sustain participant and Interdepartmental confidentiality.
• Must be able to multitask in a variety of areas.
• This position is required to have a work issued cell phone (in lieu of a cell phone other similar options are available per the agency Cell Phone Election Form).

Responsibilities

• Interview and screen participants for eligibility for Federal and State Assistance programs, including food, security deposits, rental and energy assistance, and emergency aid.
• Review caseload to match staff availability and accuracy of staff work; assign caseloads.
• Provide support to staff in case management, peer support and outreach to ensure high-quality assistance.
• Provide support through positive social interaction with participants to build mutual trust and relationships.
• Refer participants to ACCESS programs and external resources as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate case notes and correct coding on vouchers; ensure proper reporting.
• Respond to homeless emergencies as appropriate.
