Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice or Human Services required.
  • A minimum of 4-year experience related to housing for homeless or low-income populations required, including two years in family services.
  • Experience in group facilitation and housing advocacy preferred.
  • Knowledge of housing issues is essential.
  • Knowledge of tenant and landlord laws is desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to supervise others and instill professional work practices.
  • Strong interaction skills with clients, partners and agencies to meet housing needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervision of Housing Specialists and orientation of staff.
  • Provide guidance to housing relocation staff and conduct daily consultations.
  • Coordinate with DHS CARES system to maintain accurate housing records and reports.
  • Monitor housing applications, packages, and placement for families.
  • Act as liaison with shelter, DHS and landlords on move-in schedules and leases.
  • Develop relationships with housing providers and VA to secure housing leads.
