Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with minimum one year of experience working with homeless families to obtain permanent housing.
  • Associate degree acceptable with minimum two years’ experience working with homeless families to obtain permanent housing.
  • Valid New York State driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage client case files related to housing searches and permanent housing outcomes.
  • Utilize DHS CARES and related procedures in client assessments and planning.
  • Ensure housing applications are completed timely and filed to the appropriate destination.
  • Accompany families on housing searches and document progress and outcomes.
  • Provide ongoing housing education through workshops or counseling.
  • Coordinate with Director/Caseworkers to resolve barriers to housing placement.
