Job summary

Children’s Rescue Fund in Brooklyn, NY seeks an experienced supervisor to assist in guiding housing relocation specialists and staff. You will oversee case management, ensure data accuracy in CARES, and cultivate housing resources with providers and the Veterans Administration.

You will also help move families into permanent housing, coordinate with shelters, DHS, and landlords, and maintain compliance with agency policies while supporting team development.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• Minimum 4 years of housing experience, including work with homeless or low-income populations.
• Experience in group facilitation and housing advocacy preferred.
• Knowledge of housing issues is essential.
• Knowledge of tenant and landlord laws desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising Housing Specialists and Social Service Supervisor.
• Assist in orientation and training of housing staff.
• Provide guidance to relocation specialists and staff for effective service delivery.
• Intervene to resolve client and housing-related problems promptly and efficiently.
• Utilize CARES to review housing records and ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Keep CARES data updated timely as required by DHS.
• Keep the team informed about current and future housing resources.
• Track and monitor housing applications, packages, and placements for families.
• Serve as facility administrator for HRA – Pact system and manage 2010e applications.
• Develop relationships with housing providers and VA to cultivate housing leads.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to facilitate independent living workshops.
• Liaise between shelter, DHS and landlords regarding move-in schedules, leases, and utilities.
• Support and assist relocation specialists with move-out requests.
• May assume case load duties during vacancies.
• Monitor Public Assistance cases on a weekly basis and track high-income families.
• Monitor apartments viewed/visited by clients weekly.
• Work toward DHS target goals for moving families into permanent housing.
