Job summary

Volunteers of America Los Angeles is seeking a Housing Specialist to identify suitable housing options for program participants and their families and to assist them in achieving sustainable independent living. This on-site role involves coordinating with case management, maintaining a housing database, and communicating with landlords to arrange housing and services.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Services or related discipline and at least one year of relevant experience;

Qualifications

• Must pass fingerprint clearance and background checks.
• Ability to work under emotional stress with challenging clients.
• Experience with veterans, recovery or homelessness is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and locates housing options for homeless participants.
• Develops and maintains a housing database linking tenants to apartments.
• Communicates with landlords and coordinates move-in activities and referrals.
• Coordinates with Case Management team to support permanent housing placement.

Skills

Bilingual in English and Spanish
