Job summary

East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina is seeking a Contributing Housekeeper to support campus operations by cleaning classrooms, offices, labs, restrooms, and other spaces to maintain a healthy environment.

Work schedule is Monday–Friday with some weekends; hours are 4:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with duties across multiple campus areas. ECU is a public research university committed to service and community engagement.

Campus Operations is a major unit in the Administration and Finance Division of ECU with approximately 500 employees and annual budget in excess of $30 million. The Campus Operations organization includes Facilities Engineering & Architectural Services, Facilities Services, and Housekeeping Services. Campus Operations is responsible for the support of all University real property including buildings, infrastructure, and grounds. Responsibilities on the University’s Main, Health Sciences, West Research Campuses, and satellite locations associated with ECU programs include major and minor renovations and construction; corrective and preventive maintenance and repairs by utilities services (controls, electrical, HVAC , life safety, plumbing, central steam and chilled water operations), building services (carpentry, locksmith, masonry, paint, roofing), automotive services; maintenance of grounds by grounds services, recycling, refuse removal, sustainability; moving services and housekeeping services support of academic, administrative, athletic, classroom, clinical, dining, laboratory, library, performing arts, and residence life spaces.

Primary Purpose of Position

Housekeepers are the front-line employees who perform duties directly related to the health and safety of the campus community and are critical to our operations. Housekeepers are involved in operational duties such as cleaning all first impression areas, restrooms, classrooms, offices, labs, locker rooms, dorm rooms, lobbies, workout areas, clinical spaces, and all other areas. Housekeepers remove trash and consistently wipe and disinfect surfaces throughout campus for hours a day.
