Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a diligent line cook for on-site work in San Diego. You will prepare items per recipes, assist in estimated food needs, and ensure proper temperatures and plating quality in a busy kitchen.

Responsibilities include following sanitation standards, maintaining PPE, and adapting to varying schedules including holidays and weekends. A Food Handlers Card is required or obtainable within 30 days.

Qualifications

• One year of prior food prep experience preferred. Culinary degree or training desired.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation, professional cooking and knife handling skills.
• Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, recipes, short correspondence and memos.
• Due to the cyclical nature of hospitality, may work varying schedules including holidays, weekends and alternate shifts.
• Must have a valid current Food Handlers Card or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares food items according to prescribed recipes and guidelines.
• Reads menu to estimate food requirements and requisitions food from storage.
• Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate/maintain temperature of kitchen equipment and tools.
• Observes and tests foods being cooked.
• Uses thermometer to ensure food is cooked/maintained at proper temperature.
• Portions food onto serving plates and maintains high-quality standards.
• Follows all standard food handling, sanitation and health department guidelines.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of work area and kitchen equipment.
