Job summary

Fairfield Inn Durham Southpoint is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our Marriott property. You will balance guest relationships with strong financial performance and cultivate a positive, high-performing team culture.

This hands-on leader will drive guest satisfaction, occupancy, revenue management, and GOP targets, while partnering with Sales to grow corporate and group business and ensuring brand standards, safety, and excellent service.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5+ years of General Manager experience with Marriott or another major hotel brand.
• Proven track record delivering strong financial results and outstanding guest satisfaction scores.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams across all hotel departments.
• Strong operational knowledge of hotels, housekeeping operations, and F&B needs.
• Skilled in revenue management, budgeting, labor planning, and financial analysis.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and Marriott systems such as MARSHA, Opera/CI, Micros, and applicable reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Marriott property in compliance with brand standards and procedures.
• Drive performance across guest satisfaction, occupancy, revenue management, and GOP targets.
• Oversee department leaders and ensure training, coaching, and development for associates.
• Hire, develop, and retain team members while maintaining a positive workplace.
• Produce and analyze financial and operational reports, coordinating with Corporate teams.
• Partner with Sales to grow corporate, group, and transient business in the RTP market.
• Engage in outside sales calls and maintain relationships with local businesses and organizations.
• Conduct regular property inspections to uphold cleanliness, maintenance, and safety standards.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, labor, purchasing, inventory, and expenses with financial oversight.
• Maintain compliance with Marriott brand requirements and employment laws.
• Lead a service culture through daily communication, recognition, and follow-through.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when required and support operational tasks as needed.
