Job summary

McKibbon Hospitality seeks an Assistant Maintenance Engineer to ensure proper operation of hotel systems—plumbing, electrical, HVAC, pool maintenance—and general upkeep. You report to the General Manager and Chief Engineer, delivering high-quality work with minimal guest disruption while guiding junior staff as needed.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in hospitality maintenance, strong communication, and hands-on skills in carpentry, painting, caulking, and basic HVAC.

Qualifications

• 3 years minimum experience in a maintenance-type position, preferably in a hotel or apartment environment.
• Ability to communicate operational activities, priorities, and problems with management engineers and supervisors.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance methods and techniques for maintaining equipment.
• Ability to walk, stand, and lift up to 50 lbs; work in varying indoor/outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate hotel systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, pool) with minimal guest disruption.
• Repair and replace basic heating and air conditioning systems.
• Perform painting and caulking as part of upkeep.
• Train others in engineering skills as needed.
• Act as point of contact for maintenance in the absence of the Chief Maintenance Engineer.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed and tools stored properly.
