Job summary

Highgate Hotels at The New Yorker Hotel is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee daily engineering operations, report to the Director, and manage financial and administrative aspects of engineering. The role requires coordinating with ownership and corporate leadership to uphold safety and efficiency.

You will lead the maintenance team, implement preventive maintenance programs, and ensure compliance with local regulations while maintaining high guest service standards.

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience in hotel maintenance environments.
• Experience supervising or leading a mechanical team in a hotel setting.
• Hands-on maintenance knowledge for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide the highest quality of service to the customer at all times.
• Deal promptly and efficiently with guest complaints and needs.
• Have a thorough knowledge of emergency and safety procedures.
• Respond to all emergency situations and be prepared to assist.
• Responsible for ordering supplies, tools and equipment and maintaining proper par levels.
• Support and implement the department's preventive maintenance program.
• Represent and support the Chief Engineer in his absence to ownership and leadership.
• Create and implement PM programs for back-of-house areas and mechanical equipment.
• Review safety procedures (LOTO) and ensure equipment logs are maintained.
• Attend daily operations meetings; supervise and train all Engineering staff.
• Ensure workspace cleanliness and proper storage; coordinate with HR for staff evaluations.
• Maintain licenses as required by NYC/NY State and other agencies.
