Job summary

Highgate Hotels is seeking a Director of Engineering in New York to oversee all administrative, financial, and operational aspects of the engineering division. You will ensure the safe and profitable operation of the hotel, lead maintenance programs, manage compliance, and drive energy conservation while supporting guest satisfaction and staff development.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Stationary Engineer’s license if required by local code.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train all Engineering staff in Customer Service, Empowerment, SOPs and Loss Prevention Standards.
• Create, approve and post all Engineering staff schedules.
• Create and adhere to annual department budget.
• Develop financial forecasts and participate in monthly profit/loss reviews.
• Maintain property, equipment, grounds and assets in good repair.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws.
• Implement preventative maintenance program for hotel equipment.
• Ensure life safety systems are inspected, tested and certified per standards.
• Handle room maintenance requests promptly and cordially.
• Participate in energy conservation programs.
• Review guest feedback to identify and correct issues.
