Job summary

Highgate, a leading real estate investment and hospitality company, seeks an Assistant Director of Engineering to oversee all administrative, financial, and operating aspects of the hotel’s engineering division. The role ensures safe, profitable operations and compliance with laws and Highgate standards.

The position requires managing budgets, schedules, and preventative maintenance programs, while leading a team and coordinating with hotel leadership on energy efficiency and guest safety

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or related field, or a 4-year degree with relevant experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Licensure as a Stationary Engineer if required by local code.
• Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train Engineering staff in customer service and safety standards.
• Create and post Engineering staff schedules.
• Develop and manage annual department budget.
• Forecast financials and participate in monthly P&L reviews.
• Maintain property, equipment, grounds, and assets.
• Ensure compliance with all laws and Highgate Hotel standards.
• Implement preventive maintenance and energy conservation programs.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies with prompt action.
• Participate in special projects and renovations.
