Job summary

Samesun San Francisco is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in overseeing Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Maintenance teams at our busy hostel in San Francisco.

You will help coordinate staffing, schedules, guest inquiries, and day-to-day operations, stepping in when needed and upholding service standards. Strong supervisory and communication skills with hospitality experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Supervisory responsibilities include recruitment, onboarding, and training of staff across Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Maintenance.
• Ability to coordinate schedules, shift coverage, and overtime approvals.
• Provide coaching and performance evaluations for staff.
• Maintain safety documentation and incident reports.
• Ensure consistent service, cleanliness, safety, and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager with the daily operation of Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Maintenance.
• Maintain a visible presence to ensure service, cleanliness, safety, and standards.
• Fill in shifts in Front Desk, Housekeeping, or Maintenance as needed.
• Review daily priorities and staffing with the General Manager.
• Oversee night audit and end-of-day reporting.
• Coordinate reservations, group bookings, no-shows, cancellations, and guest concerns.
• Oversee housekeeping priorities and room readiness.
• Manage maintenance requests and vendor access.
• Maintain and restock operational inventory.
• Respond to guest questions and escalate issues.
• Support property activities and guest engagement.
• Enforce health and safety procedures and company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
