Job summary

Tufts Medical Center is seeking a Unit Coordinator for the Adult Complex Med Unit, working every other weekend from Saturday to Sunday, 7 am to 7:30 pm with rotating holidays. The role focuses on administrative support, patient flow coordination, charting, and liaison duties across departments to ensure service excellence.

Responsibilities include maintaining medical records, transcribing orders, handling communications, and supporting staff with downtime and emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required or better.
• One year of customer service in healthcare or a customer-facing setting preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient flow and information on the unit based on approved policies.
• Receive, greet and direct patients, visitors, physicians and staff per service standards.
• Prepare and maintain patient charts and medical records per hospital policy.
• Transcribe physician orders to appropriate information sites and documents.
• Answer phones promptly, triage calls and relay messages to staff.
• Enter and verify orders in hospital computer systems and generate reports.
• Coordinate communications for transfers, discharges and external services.
• Support case management and social work for follow-up appointments.
• Assist with orientation and training of new unit coordinators.
