Job summary

SGMC Health is seeking a Switchboard Operator for the Main Campus in the Hospitality Services department. The role involves operating complex call systems, screening and routing calls, and maintaining emergency paging and on-call schedules.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, experience with multi-line switchboards, and strong typing and communication skills. Must be able to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Experience with multi-line switchboard/PBX preferred; minimum two years secretarial experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain PBX/phone systems and related equipment.
• Screen and transfer high volume calls to patients, departments, staff, or physicians.
• Maintain an accurate emergency and paging database and on-call schedules.
• Page on-call physicians and coordinate with multiple channels.
• Monitor alarms, fire panels, generators, HVAC and weather channel.
• Protect patient privacy in line with HIPAA regulations.
