Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a dedicated switchboard operator to manage internal and external calls, coordinate emergency codes, and reference on-call schedules. You will provide language services and support to patients and physicians, ensuring accurate information exchange.

The role requires strong customer service and compliance with hospital policies. Must have a high school diploma and at least six months of customer service experience using telephone communication.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Six months previous customer service experience utilizing voice communication over the telephone.
• Knowledge and Skills: Clear communication skills. Fluent in English. Must be able to exchange accurate information.

Responsibilities

• Answer and process calls using established scripts and transfer internal calls within set timeframes.
• Operate overhead paging and notify personnel as required.
• Answer code telephones within two rings and initiate codes per policy, logging events promptly.
• Identify whether a request is for technician or physician and route accordingly.
• Reference on-call personnel by department to locate staff within time frames.
• Set up schedules for the following day as required.
• Coordinate interpreter services and connect interpreter with patient in a timely manner.
• Provide equipment to hearing-impaired patients and obtain necessary signatures.
• Notify hospital personnel to resolve issues and follow up on resolutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
